Game Overview

Grand Theft Auto IV is an Action, Adventure, and Open-World game developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games in December 2008 as the 6th main release of GTA Games. After its release, it was able to compete with the best games in the world back in the day and even surpass them, thanks to its advanced high-performance graphics as well as many visuals that amazingly simulate reality, in addition to many improvements to the aiming system, driving, missions, weather effects, game environment, weapons, and other important matters.

Game Story

The main game character is Niko Bellic, a Serbian immigrant who comes to Liberty City (New York) at the invitation of his cousin Roman, who promises him a luxurious life, but Niko is surprised by the harsh reality and must find his way to realize the “American Dream”.

The game’s story will captivate you from start to finish, Niko’s character is the most realistic in the series and perhaps the character players will sympathize with the most, thanks to a high-quality script comparable to the best movie dialogues, and voice acting that has never been this good in a game before. GTA IV takes storytelling in video games to a level that may remain unchallenged for years to come.

Gameplay

In terms of gameplay, there have been some positive changes to the system. Driving the vehicles is more balanced than before, and it’s a bit more realistic, which helps the game showcase the capabilities of its Euphoria engine more clearly; for example, each collision is a different experience with a different feel and look depending on the data. The weapon aiming system has undergone a radical change, and now looks like a cross between Resident Evil 4 in terms of the rear camera and Gears of War in terms of using the surrounding environment for cover.

This change has made combat in the game a much more enjoyable and deeper experience than in the past. The game utilizes these elements to perfection in more than 90 story-related missions that are excellently varied, and these missions start with a small and limited space and gradually escalate in pace until the game reaches the peak of excitement in the late stages. Many of the missions will amaze many in terms of their technical and visual dimension.

Game World

New York is indeed a vibrant and constantly moving city that has earned it the nickname “The Capital of the World,” and luckily Rockstar has managed to convey that feeling perfectly in GTA IV. This time around, it’s very rare to see the same character twice on the street, or to hear the same phrase repeated over and over, and other shortcomings that plagued the previous installments.

In addition, the incentive to leave the story behind and roam the game world is much greater than before. You can visit several places in the game, such as art theaters, entertainment, and comedy shows, all of which are filmed and represented in high definition and in large numbers, so each visit you will see a different show.

You can also browse the game’s fictitious Internet, which is so deep it’s hard to believe at first glance, or watch hours of television. There are bowling, darts, and billiards clubs, all of which can be separate mini-games on Xbox Live Arcade or similar. Add to that nightclubs, cafes, and missions that you can do with police cars… In fact, to detail all the extras GTA 4 has to offer would take pages of writing alone.

Visuals

GTA 4 is a complete work of art visually, everything is so well taken care of that sometimes it can even seem exaggerated. Some of the views in the game are breathtaking, the sunsets are breathtaking, the aerial storms in the game are stunning, and the Liberty City at night is something that no player should miss. GTA IV may not be a technically impressive game at first glance, but when you consider the size of the game and the amount of detail, you can’t help but admire what Rockstar has accomplished.

Sounds

GTA 4 continues to outdo the series vocally. The voice acting in the game is top-notch for all characters from Niko to the least influential ones, and it was actually pretty cool of Rockstar to use excellent but non-celebrity voice actors, so that their voices don’t distract the player when they discover the performers.

In addition to the high-quality voice acting, the game comes with 18 radio stations to satisfy all tastes, with most musical genres and more than one Talk Shows station to choose from. The songs range from well-known and classic to those that many have not heard and are completely new to the player, but in the end, they all fall under the excellent rating.
