Game Overview
Football Manager 2014, also known as FM 14, is a sports simulation football game developed by Sports Interactive and published by SEGA in October 2013. More than 1000 improvements and additions compared to the previous season are waiting for you. Improvements have been made not only to the gameplay, but also to the technical component.
The game also supports cloud technology, now, managers can continue their careers on any computer anywhere in the world. The possibilities to customize the game have been significantly expanded. The integration of Steam Workshop tools will allow each user to create their own materials for Football Manager – photos and logos, types of competitions, and even unique challenges.
Gameplay
The 3D engine of the match has undergone significant changes: artificial intelligence has been improved, the lighting and animation of football players, models of individual characters and equipment have been improved, players are more realistic in responding to what is happening on the field, and a number of optimization improvements have been made. Thanks to all this, the most beautiful and fastest 3D match engine in FM games at the moment appears before us.
Tactics System
The system of formation, selection and application of tactics was completely redone: the roles of players and the team strategy became even more important, football players got clearly defined roles in various positions, new roles and instructions for players appeared, and improvements were made to the artificial intelligence of rival managers so that they more willingly modified their tactics over time.
Transfer Module
FM 2014 presents an updated transfer module, in which the competing clubs and managers are characterized by a more realistic approach to making proposals for transfers or responding to them.
In addition, a number of new conditions for transfers taken from life were added (for example, the ability to rent a player to the same club from which he had just been bought, and the right to offer players purchased for cash and leased) at the same time, as well as new conditions contracts (for example, a fine for appearing on the bench).
And finally, negotiations on transfers can now be carried out in two different ways: in addition to the old proven “step-by-step” system, now there is a new, real-time one resembling the one used in FM in contract negotiations.
Contract Negotiations
Contract negotiations have become more realistic in the game, as managers and the board can now make demands and formulate their plans for the club both in initial interviews and in discussions on the possibility of renewing the contract.
Managers may also try to re-negotiate transfer budgets and wages as a reward for loyalty if they were offered a job in another club, while the result of the negotiations will help them decide whether to move to a new place.
Interaction System
The interaction system between football players, managers, their rivals, and the media has been improved; for example, members of the coaching staff now report how reserve players and youth team play.
Managers can also ask key players to talk with dissatisfied colleagues, and such an innovation as meeting at the end of the season allows the manager to notify how they played and set goals for the coming season.
News System
The news system was redone so that managers could solve many issues related to the club directly from the incoming message folder. In addition, the news now differs in color, depending on the category, and contains more information – for example, scout reports now look like a separate category of news, while they report all the players studied by scouts, and it is possible to include each of these players in the list or make an offer on it.
User Interface
Major changes have been made to the game user interface. Key sections of – were redone, including the training review page, the transfer center, and the main news page, – and the user interface of the game underwent large-scale changes. The language of the game has also undergone major processing and is now closer to the football actually used in the world.
Game Modes
Now, managers can choose in the classic mode from more than three playable nations, which provides even greater immersion in the game. In addition, FM’s “quick game” mode now includes the last day of transfers, a match planning wizard, and new unlocked features.
