Entering the soccer field with FIFA games is like walking on sacred ground for soccer fans; it’s a world where every touch, every pass, and every goal feels so real that you begin to doubt where the virtual world ends and reality begins. Playing this release is nostalgic enough to feel all the intensity and dynamics of the old gaming soccer matches, sitting in a comfortable chair in front of the screen.

Game Overview

As always, the game was developed by EA Canada and released in 2013 by Electronic Arts (EA Sports). It’s the 16th release of the FIFA soccer games series where the developers are constantly working to improve gameplay and graphics.

The game has received thoughtful physics, thanks to which soccer players move appropriately and don’t slide around on the field, as well as a heavier ball. Now, giving a pass from a long distance will be more difficult; it will fly appropriately, not like a balloon. The interface has also changed, with sub-elements added to the menu.

Gameplay

The gameplay and graphical style of FIFA 14 have greatly developed, especially on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, thanks to the Ignite Engine. This includes improvements like advanced artificial intelligence that simulates real player interactions, such as showing anxiety and tension when the match outcome is uncertain.

True Player Motion Technology

Using True Player Motion technology, player movements were recorded and applied in the game, making them more realistic compared to previous versions. The ball shooting system has also been enhanced with AI, adjusting steps and angles in the penalty area to avoid missed targets. The ball’s physical movement and its interaction with the field have also improved.

Enhanced Player Movement

The movement of players without the ball has improved. Defenders now close potential angles, cut the ball, and intercept better. Attackers try to break through defensive lines to create new offensive opportunities. The game’s skill and dodging system feature moves inspired by players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. The ball protection function allows players to suppress defenders in the penalty area, though this slightly slows down movement.

Player Celebrations

Player celebrations, a significant part of real soccer, are now included in FIFA 14. Once a goal is scored, players perform their special celebrations, such as Cristiano Ronaldo’s calm celebration or Lionel Messi’s skyward gesture. These can be skipped to continue the match.

Different Playing Styles

With the return of FIFA Ultimate Team, players can build their teams using real players and coaches. They can compete in various individual and group online modes, completing challenges to earn player packs. Players can buy and sell players via cards classified into bronze, silver, and gold categories.

Career Mode

Career Mode allows players to simulate the life of a coach or professional player, move between clubs, and play important matches. The new scouting system lets coaches search for talent worldwide and bring young talent to their team. The game also supports individual or group play with friends, offering different teams and levels of difficulty, and an intelligent AI system.

Teams and Leagues

The game includes over 600 soccer teams playing in 33 licensed leagues around the world, such as English, Spanish, and Italian leagues for the first time. It features three important South American leagues: Argentine, Chilean, and Colombian, and also includes 47 national teams from the best teams in the world.

Stadiums

FIFA 14 features over 69 stadiums, including 32 real ones like Goodison Park and Camp Nou. These stadiums are designed with high realism, from the terraces to the field. The player can select any stadium when playing Kick Off, regardless of the team’s actual home field.

Graphics

Thanks to the new engine, great improvements have been made to the game’s graphics. Players are now more realistic, and stadium and grass designs are more accurate. Environmental and weather properties are more realistic, and the player can determine the weather before the match starts, whether it’s rainy, sunny, snowy, or more. Various weather conditions will greatly affect the progress of the match and the player’s interaction with the pitch.

Fans are an integral part of soccer matches and are therefore added to the game, as the voices of the masses will continue to cheer throughout the match. The audience interacts with dangerous opportunities and goals, just like in reality.
