Undergrave crosses turn-based tactics with simplified role-playing. The indi title uses two-dimensional, pixel art-style graphics and a third-person view. The camera is positioned at the top and at an angle. Maps are levels of puzzles that fit into the screen. The story is about a hero in the realm of the void. Where the protagonist went to complete the resurrection trial. His goal is to bring his loved one back to life. Characters fight enemies in arenas divided into cells. Monsters don’t stand still. They move or attack after the swordsman leaves. The point of the game is to use each move as efficiently as possible.

The gameplay in Undergrave is similar to Red Ronin, another game from the same developers. The gameplay resembles a modified Falcon. The hero has 3 skills. Undergrave is a multi-directional arrow dagger that can lunge in a straight line (until it hits an obstacle) and a vertical, horizontal, and diagonal leap. All of these activities use up the stamina bar. Each round, this bar slowly recovers. When a fighter is holding a sword, it will damage or kill him if he comes into contact with the enemy. Destroy multiple enemies in a single move. Unarmed, the warrior repels or stuns enemies.
