To protect the city and the local population, the heroes are forced to hide deep underground so as not to attract unnecessary attention.

The story in TMNT: Turtles In Time Re-Shelled begins with a ninja turtle looking at April O’Neill’s report. A girl is on Liberty Island when a villain named Krang comes into the picture, stealing the Statue of Liberty through unknown technical means. It gets the characters going and they are forced to drop everything to get to the center of New York City. A chase by the Foot Clan begins, in which antagonist Shredder kidnaps the turtles into a strange past and causes them to switch back and forth between different eras.
