Swallow is a Taiwanese horror and walking simulator. It features the traditional first-person perspective typical of the genre. The developers didn’t want to make a classic horror, but a psychological thriller. That’s why the developers didn’t add monsters and maniacs. They decided to scare players in other ways, using sound effects, light and shadow plays, and space transformations. Roam the premises, explore the rooms, and solve puzzles in this indi horror. The protagonist can use a lighter instead of a flashlight. He is also able to interact with the environment. For example: picking up, using and examining items, opening doors and so on. The main character comments on his actions at such moments. Sometimes there are clues.

The video game transports users to 20th-century England. The story in Swallow is divided into chapters. Acts that have already been completed can be selected in the main menu and played repeatedly. The narration is based on a not fully solved case that happened in real life. The action takes place in a lighthouse located on a remote island. The main character woke up in the janitor’s house and got ready for work. However, before the start of the shift, the hero felt great fear. He must learn a shocking truth. The story is served in text format read by a voice-over narrator in English. The story mode walkthrough takes a couple of hours.
