The events of Plague Lords take players back to the Dark Ages when the plague (the Black Death) ravaged European cities. The users take control of a settlement where people are beginning to die out en masse, forcing them to send a group of boy scouts in search of cures. The squad must find the king’s dignitary who is missing and now in need of help of his own. The game is a tactical action role-playing game with turn-based combat mechanics and movement on an isometric map viewed from above.

The plot in Plague Lords tells about an epidemic that starts turning people into stunned and aggressive monsters that attack civilians. Players take on the role of scouts and explorers who must investigate the nature of a dangerous infection and find a cure. Users have to construct buildings in the village, travel around the environment and fight with the mutant humans that will attack the settlers.

Players can control different characters who have unique skills and abilities of blacksmith, lumberjack, warrior, etc. Players strengthen city defenses, set traps, choose items for heroes from over 100 pieces of equipment and upgrade them with new abilities.
