The single-player story campaign is the only mode added by the creators of Pixel Noir and is set in a fictional, unprecedented real-world city called Pinnacle City. The main character of the whole story is a suicidal private detective who wants to do his job faster, relax and smoke. Because the protagonist takes very little money for his services, the first tasks are routine. These tasks can be referred to as tutorials that are added to allow players to understand the controls and mechanics presented to maximize the fun of the passing process.

The gameplay is based on constant dialogues with the right to choose lines for the player, which increases the level of non-linearity, as well as fierce battles with enemies. In the course of the story, the user makes new acquaintances and gets loyal allies who are ready to join the virtual protégé and support him not only in words but also in deeds, getting involved with him in skirmishes with bandits and crime bosses.
