Illusion: A History of the Mind tells about a little girl Emma who breaks into the magical world and tries to study it. But there are many obstacles on her way, and the most important of them is to collect pieces of her memories and learn the mysterious story of a circus performer suffering from depression.

Gameplay begins in a cave where the heroine finds herself chained to theatrical masks. Topsy the rabbit comes to her aid. Not only does he free Emma, ​​but he also transforms the chains into an ethereal scarf. Together they begin their adventure. In the further course, the girl finds old photographs, posters and records. They contain the story of a strong man, Euclid, who is heartbroken.

The gameplay is presented through a mixture of several genres: quest, side-scrolling and puzzle. The girl will solve puzzles and overcome obstacles. Some locations contain opponents or gusts of wind that you need to run away from and hide from.
